Starter Colour Collection
=========================

Twenty-four colours: the five neutrals from Lesson 18, three of the limited palettes from Lesson 19, and seven traditional earth colours that behave well in oils.

WHAT IS IN HERE
L22-starter-colours-chart.png a printable / pinnable chart, one square per colour, hex printed on each
L22-starter-colours.aco Photoshop swatch file - Swatches panel menu > Import Swatches
L22-starter-colours.ase Adobe Swatch Exchange - works in Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity, Krita

HOW TO USE THESE IN ARTRAGE

  1. Open the chart PNG in ArtRage: File > Import Image as Reference (or drag it onto
the canvas as a Reference image from the Reference panel).
  2. The reference sits pinned to the canvas like a piece of paper. Move it, scale it,
rotate it - it never becomes part of the painting.
  3. Hold Alt (Option on a Mac) and click any square to load that colour into the picker.
  4. Painted a colour you want to keep? Use the Colour Samples panel to add it to your own
collection, and ArtRage will save that as a .col for you.

Alternative: print the chart. Physical swatch cards next to the screen are still the
fastest way to choose a palette before you start.

WHY THERE IS NO .col FILE IN HERE
ArtRage's colour sample collection (.col) is a proprietary binary format that Ambient
Design has never published. Writing a guess at it would produce a file that either fails
to load or silently loads the wrong colours, so this pack ships formats that are
documented and verified instead. Every colour is identical - only the container changed.
