Three Starter Stencils
======================

Each file is a 2000 x 2000 8-bit greyscale PNG. BLACK is the blocked area, WHITE is open.
ArtRage imports a stencil straight from an image - you do not need a packed file.

HOW TO LOAD ONE

  1. Open the Stencils panel.
  2. Choose the option to create a stencil from an image file (in ArtRage 6 this is in the
     Stencils menu; you can also drag the PNG onto the canvas and convert the layer).
  3. Pick the PNG. It appears on the canvas as a stencil you can move, scale and rotate.
  4. Right-click the stencil to switch its mode:
        Stencil (red) - blocks paint completely
        Ruler (grey) - does not block, guides the cursor
        Guide (blue) - guides the cursor AND lets paint through
  5. Stencils never appear in an export. They are tools on the canvas, not paint on it.

THE THREE STENCILS

  Ellipse Guide   ->  L25-starter-stencils-ellipse-guide.png
      A single centred 1600 x 1000 ellipse. Load it in RULER mode - grey, does not block paint, just guides the cursor. Best tool there is for drawing believable ellipses.

  Leaf Cluster   ->  L25-starter-stencils-leaf-cluster.png
      Seven overlapping leaf silhouettes at different angles. Load it in STENCIL mode - red, blocks paint completely - and spray or brush over the top for instant foliage.

  Torn Edge   ->  L25-starter-stencils-torn-edge.png
      A rough torn-paper boundary across the middle. Stencil mode. Use it to mask off a skyline, a waterline or the top of a wall so you can paint straight over the boundary.

WHY THERE IS NO .arpack FILE IN HERE
  .arpack is ArtRage's own package container. Ambient Design has never published its
  layout, so a hand-built one would be rejected on import. The PNGs in this zip are the
  actual stencil source images, which is what an .arpack of stencils holds anyway - you
  just load them one at a time instead of all at once.

  Note: .arstencil is not a real file extension. Neither is .arpalette or .arbrush.
  The real ArtRage extensions are .ptg .arpack .arscript .col .prs and .stk.
