THE COURSE

Eight modules, in order

Each one builds on the last. Do them in order the first time through.

MODULE 1

Your Studio

Get the Artist 12 connected, calibrated and comfortable. The boring lessons that stop everything else being frustrating.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 2

Digital Foundations

The handful of ideas that separate digital from paper. Layers is the big one — it changes what a drawing even is.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 3

Drawing Fundamentals

Construction, proportion, perspective and gesture — the skills you already have, sharpened by tools that let you check your own work.

5 LESSONS

MODULE 4

Value & Light

Value does the work colour gets credit for. Learn to see light as shapes before you learn to paint it.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 5

Colour

The colour picker decoded, harmony as deliberate restriction, and the local-vs-light idea most people never get taught.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 6

ArtRage 6

Real paint behaviour — oils that smear, canvas that has grain, knives that scrape. Where digital stops feeling like a computer.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 7

Photoshop for Artists

Reshape a photographer's app into a painter's studio, then learn the brush engine and the non-destructive stack properly.

4 LESSONS

MODULE 8

Capstone

One original character, taken from twenty silhouettes to a finished presentation sheet. Everything you've learned, in one piece.

1 LESSON

Watch, then do

Every lesson has one to three hand-picked videos and a practice exercise with a clear finish line. Watching without drawing doesn't count.

Files to work from

Practice files come with the lesson — line art to colour, templates to fill, worksheets to print. No hunting around.

Check yourself

Each lesson ends with questions. If you can't answer them in your own words, that's the signal to go back — not whether the drawing looked good.

Ready when you are.

Lesson 1 takes about 25 minutes and you don't need to draw anything yet — just get the tablet talking to your computer.
